Good Luck in Baltimore - MDSSC Flag Football

I'm sure that it comes to no surprise that I am writing this blog. I have been in Cincy for a little over a month now and as much as it pains me to say it... I haven't looked back. Trust me. I miss this league, painfully. I haven't had the opportunity to play football at all since I got here and stopping by the site today got me thinking. You guys deserve a closing, a farewell... something. So here it is...My final predictions:

Keep in mind...I haven't talked to anyone this season and know nothing about how you got to your records. For that reason, some of you may not give a shit...well, this is my last post, so move on fu*ker. :)

PLAYOFFS 5/14 - Round 1
#1 Pain vs #8 Prestige - Prestige came back after last season? Pain -14

#4 Victors vs #5 TTB - Prop's to TTB for sticking with All-Pro after a season off. Never count out the Victors but I think they play to hang out more than win now, not that there is anything wrong with that... TTB -2

#3 Money vs #6 Balls Deep - Looks like Money played strong this season. Balls Deep went from Cinderella two seasons ago to the Carolina Panthers last season. Can they redeem themselves? Maybe... Money -1

#2 Untouchables vs #7 Danger - Guess Danger didn't replace Hank yet? Untouchables -13

Round 2 (based on my predictions above)
#1 Pain vs #5 TTB - Two smart teams here. They both know how to slow the game down as well as hit big plays.  Gut feeling... TTB -2

#2 Untouchables vs #3 Money - Let's be real here... Untouchables -4

Championship
#2 Untouchables vs #5 TTB - What the hell? Untouchables always reaches the finals, even in a hypothetical mock bracket... Doesn't matter. For some reason I think TTB wins it based on this scenario. I'm probably way off and Money takes all but we'll see.

I wanted to break down Pro too... but I'm not going game-by-game.

Favorites - WTF, HitSquad, Beltway & Karma...Underdog - B'Moore

Based on the bracket... on 5/21 it will be HitSquad vs Beltway and Karma vs B'Moore

This is HitSquad's time to shine. They should be in AllPro but I will let DJ slide this once more. Beltway isn't the same anymore. I don't know what it is but they don't have that extra umph. However, I think they will play HitSquad tight. The reason I believe Karma will beat WTF is that Karma is in their third consecutive season together and WTF plays sporadically...regardless of the talent they have, I think Karma will win... lastly, B'moore has an easy route based on the bracket. The first play Menace, who has a tool for a QB that can't throw, and then they play X-Factor. X-Factor is -49 in pts scored vs given up and are ranked 2nd? Unless Mike screwed up, which is very possible, I find B'Moore playing on 5/21.

Based on that, I would say HitSquad vs Karma in the championship with HitSquad winning it all unless Brady found his old ways. HitSquad doesn't need to be in Pro anymore and after this season they shouldn't be. Now, I know I have one fan who thinks I love HitSqaud and blah blah blah... but other than some raw athletes speckled throughout other teams, the HitSquad have the most complete team in the league. Hell, they've had the same 20 guys playing together for at least 3years and 9 seasons.

That's all folks... I'm done with the blog. Just can't do it from Cincy. I know I will likely never talk to some of you again and hopefully I will stay in touch on a personal level with those of you I know well. Good luck out there on the good ol' Oregon Ridge. It was a fantastic and fun 8 years with a lot of you. Prop's to Mike Mockoviak for keeping this league up and running and helping us find great times and memories.

MDSSC: Winter Flag Football - Champs Crowned!

MILLER LITE VICTORS - WINTER 2011 ALL PRO CHAMPS
Well I missed a great weekend of football apparently. The Victors were victorious and Hit Squad got of the schneid to win their first championship behind a great defense and a reliable Brady. Rusty Trombone finished their season of flawlessly without a loss. I stole the Victors picture from facebook and I did the same with the Hit Squad.. What is up with that hair #27?

HIT SQUAD - WINTER 2011 PRO CHAMPS
Stole this one from Mike... RUSTY TROMBONE - WINTER 2011 SEMI PRO CHAMPS
What a great season guys! I am sad that I won't get to be here to run around the good ole' Oregon Ridge fields. Maybe I will be back one day for good. For now it will just be visits and living vicariously through some of your texts, emails, facebook messages, tweets one day I'm sure... maybe even get back into paging people. Either way, thanks for the great memories MDSSC. I will miss you. I already found a weird coed league that has an offensive line, maybe I will start Mac's Sports League out there.

Until next time...

MAC

P.S. Didn't mean to get all nostalgic there... I meant to say: I'm taking my talents to Cincinnati but the Bengals suck!

50% isn't bad... but could have been better.

MDSSC has been a Flag Football League in Maryland for over seven years and has grown to over 30+ teams a season after starting out as 6 co-ed teams from what I can remember. My goal is to get that to 50 before the summer of 2010.

On to the good stuff.. Week 4 of MDSSC was a balancing weekend at best. The Victors found a way to beat us (NoResponse) 47-25.. After a tight first half ending 22-19, the Victors opened up on us and only gave up one TD. They then took the rest of their vengeance out on a Scott-less Mayhem (61-0)...108 points in 2 games. That is pretty impressive.

For my other picks.. Fuzion let me down and Rezurection did exactly what their name suggests and rose from two bad losses to put it to Fuzion and give them their first loss. I don't know what the score was from the Untouchables/Jumpoff game but I know that Jumpoff is 0-3 and Untouchables are 3-1. And lastly, All-Money beat Revolution to get back to .500. I heard it was a decent winning margin but that Revolution was short on players. Regardless a win is a win and in all honesty as long as you make it in the playoffs any of these teams have a shot.

On to the games of the week...By the way Mike, on one hand it is nice to get the games out of the way but 8:30 is way early man!

8:30 am: LBH2 (3-0) vs Untouchables (3-1): Great potential match-up here. LBH2 was off last week and the Untouchables got to 3-1. LBH2 has big wins against Jacked Up (only 1 game so far) and Rezurection. Untouchables knocked off the Victors and Money but lost to Fuzion. This will be a barn burner I feel. Who ever gets a stop or two will win this one.
Prediction: 35-32 (Untouchables)

9:45 am: No Response (1-3) vs Jumpoff (0-3): I don't like to pick my own games.. so I will leave my prediction out. We have a new QB who has been coming into his own. We have put up some decent points and have given up about the same. Jumpoff looks to have gone a similar route facing Revolution, LBH2, and Untouchables. That is a tough schedule and you can never sleep on Babe and his patented look off passes. This will be a good game...mostly because we both need wins to stay in the playoff hunt.

11:00 am: There are two good games in this slot: Jacked Up (0-1) vs Rezurection (2-2) & Revolution (2-1) vs Fuzion (2-1)... don't know which one to go with so I will be brief. Jacked Up is coming off a short vacation... will the weekends at the beach have an effect? Not on Khalid that is for sure.
Revolution and Fuzion are both coming off humbling losses. This is the point in the season where Fuzion decides whether those first two wins where a fluke because teams were sleeping on them or whether they're legit. Nocar is back at the helm this season for Revolution and if his team mates are on time they are a tough bunch.
Predictions: (Jacked Up: 28-22) (Revolution: 35-21)

12:15 pm: All-Money (2-2) vs Mayhem (2-1)...I don't want to pick anymore Mayhem games if they won't have a QB all the time but it was this or the (0-2) Circus Show vs the (0-1) Underdogs (Semi-pro).. Put it this way, if Scott shows up this week it will be a decent game. Likely with Money capitalizing on their momentum to squeak one out... no Scott and Mayhem will start to hope they win enough to stay in the top 4 of their divison.
Prediction: *28-24 (Money) *If Scott shows up

Some final thoughts... the North division is evening up with three 2-1 teams, two .500 teams and Jacked Up with some games to play. The South division is shaping up a little more distinctively with the only undefeated team left and a team at 3-1, 2-1, 1-3, and two 0-3 teams. In the South this week will start to determine the teams in the playoffs while in the North this weeks inter-division games will start to change some of the rankings. A great season so far. Good luck to all the teams this weekend and I will post again next week.

P.S. If you like the uniforms that the Victors, Fuzion and Revolution are wearing this season and want some more information. Drop me a line and I can answer any of your questions.

MDSSC....Heating up

On to the MDSSC Flag Football League played in Hunt Valley, Maryland on Saturdays...All-Pro Division: 3 weeks are down with a bye last week for the holiday. Hope everyone had a safe 4th. So a brief overview of the season so far...

Not everyone has played three games and even one of the stronger teams (the Victors) have only played one. Standings currently have 4 teams undefeated (Mayhem, Fuzion, Revolution and LBH2) and the Untouchables at 2-1. Everyone else is either 1-2 or 0-2 and the Victors and Jacked up have only played once and both lost. There are 12 teams in all and usually ends up being a pretty tight season for the most part. Each team will play 8 games.. Here are some of the games of the week:

8:30am: Fuzion(2-0) vs Rezurection (1-2)
Fuzion has taken All-Pro by storm beating the Untouchables and Money by decent amounts. Now that they are getting settled lets see if they can keep it up. On the other side, Rezurection started out with a high scoring 37-35 victory over NoResponse to turn around and lose 42-27 and 48-16 to LBH2 and Mayhem respectively.. Important to note that both of those teams are championship squads. I wouldn't overlook Rezurection...but they need to tighten up their D.
Prediction: 35-21 (Fuzion)

9:45am: Untouchables (2-1) vs Jumpoff (0-2)
Untouchables shocked Money (30-6) and shocked the Victors (31-27) in our last week of games.. but in between those got crushed by Fuzion 44-13. On the other side.. Jumpoff has started slow at 0-2 with a close loss to Revolution (37-32) and the other loss to LBH2 (39-27). This game might be close but with the momentum on Untouchables side...
Prediction: 28-16 (Untouchables)

11am: Victors(0-1) vs Mayhem (2-0)
Mayhem has started off with two big wins against two new teams and the Victors were beat by the Untouchables on the 27th (31-27)... Victors will look to bounce back with an early game vs (0-2) NoRespons and then this game. Mayhem only has this one. This is a tough call considering Scott is back and flinging the ball and the Victors are always in contention.
Prediction: Going to flip a coin here...Tails=Victors - Heads=Mayhem... Heads it is. I have no idea what the score will be so I will say 28-26 Mayhem...

12:15: Revolution (2-0) vs All-Money (1-2)
Revolution has had two good wins against the Jumpoff (0-2) and NoResponse (0-2)... All-Money beat the Best Team (0-2) easily but lost to the Untouchables (2-1) and Fuzion (2-0).. This is a hard one to call. Both teams have been in the league for a long time and know eachother well. The key here will be defense. All-Money has given up 75 pts and scored 75.. Lopsided loss and a lopsided win... Revolution has played 2 games to Money's 3 and has given up 45pts but scored 70. Going out on a limb here.
Prediciton: 24-21 (Money)

MDFFA Season Over - Scorpions are the Champs!

Sorry it has been a few weeks... I am new to this whole blogging thing. So on to the news.

MDFFA is now over with the Scorpions taking the cup after an undefeated season of 8-0. Being #1 going into the playoffs they had a bye. On Saturday (6/20) the Bengals beat the Victors 28-21 and the Arsenal beat the Raiders 12-6 which set up the #2 Blaze vs #3 Arsenal and the #1 Scorpions vs the #4 Bengals (with Packers Players apparently)...

Sunday (6/21) had some great defensive games showing the Blaze come out 6-0 over the Arsenal and the Scorpions beating the Bengals 19-13. Setting up the expected #1 vs #2 championship game. Yet another defensive battle ending in a 7-0 defeat of the Blaze to give the Scorpions the Spring cup. Great season for the MDFFA.

Fall season is set to start in Late September (the 20th it looks like). This was my first year in the league and I had a blast. Have a great summer!

I will be posting on this blog about other leagues in the area as well as a few tournaments if I can make them. Email me or comment if you have any questions about some of the other leagues. If you need jerseys, I have a great contact as well. Let me know.

MDFFA - Championship Weekend

Championship weekend is upon us in MDFFA's Spring league. Being part of the Victors as been pretty exciting and I think that we have a chance to contend. But let me put my bias aside.

Championship Bracket:
3pm: #3 Arsenal vs #6 Raiders

Arsenal had a great season... they are 7-1. Personally I say 6-2 with that double OT win over the Victors in which one of their guys even admitted that the ref blew that call in the endzone that would have sealed it. Regardless it was a great game. Some other notable games: They lost to the Blaze 24-0, Beat Compound 18-0, and perhaps more significantly beat the Raiders two weeks ago 19-12.

Raiders got into the playoffs...they played well against some lesser teams but 3 wins in a row helps your confidence. Key losses are shutouts vs the scorpions and Bengals... and perhaps as mentioned below the loss to the Arsenal a few weeks ago..

Prediction: Arsenal 18 - Raiders 7

Championship Bracket:
4:30pm: #4 Bengals vs #5 Victors

The Bengals have had an interesting season... They have 3 losses, one each to the Scorpions and Blaze... and some debacle versus the Brigade. Three of their six wins are impressive high scoring shut outs. I keep hearing these things about Packer players showing up and I can't help but wonder how it must be to have to bring in ringers for the playoffs. How does that affect chemistry?

This was the Victors first season in MDFFA... they have had an up and down season at first but capped off the regular season with a 3 game win streak. I think the key game for them was holding Scorpions to six points.

Prediction: Bengals 7 - Victors 13

Okay... I am tired now..

Consolation Bracket:
Red Knights beat Nightmares: 21 - 7
Trojans trounce the Bridgade: 24 - 12
Compound beats Trojans: 18 - 14
Stallions beat Red Knights: 7 - 0

Compound probably had one of the toughest schedules out of all of these teams in this bracket. They win the Consolation Bracket over the Stallions 14-6.

I will post again on Saturday night... lets see how Saturday goes...

I don't know what our rules are on rain but the forecast is pretty crappy tomorrow...

Maryland Flag Football

This is my first blog. That's me up there #32 getting a sack in the MDFFA Essex 9 man Contact League..also to the right.. yeah I am the kicker..so What?!? (Little more about that in a minute). I am going to try and gather as much information about the area leagues and try to bring that information to this page. My goal is to help grow all the leagues I come in contact with. In this economy with a lot of doubt in the future there is nothing better than going out on the weekends and forgetting about things for a couple hours. Especially when there is an opportunity to hit somebody...cleanly.

So for my first blog, I will introduce myself. My name is Will McGinnis and I play for No Response in the MDSSC league in Hunt Valley, MD. I also play for the Baltimore Victors in the MDFFA league and it is our first year. We made it to the Championship Playoff bracket on Sunday! We are a 5th seed play this Saturday against the #4 Baltimore Bengals. Notable Nationally ranked teams in this league are the #1 seeded Baltimore Scorpions (we lost to them in the regular season 6-0) and the #2 seeded Baltimore Blaze (we lost to them pretty bad 34-0...I will say as good as they are, we played them Week 1...our first week as a team together.).

I am excited to be in the Championship Tier Playoffs and think that we have a team that can contend for the title. It is at Essex Community College this weekend Saturday at 4:30 pm and Sunday at 9:00 am if you are interested.

One last note. I am also working with the AGame Team, the company that provides our uniforms. They provide Quality Flag Football jerseys, Regular Jerseys, Basketball jerseys...really everything, including shorts or regulation pants. If you have any questions or would like some more information Feel free to email me and I will help you out.

Until Next time.. #32
