Okay, so here are a few pictures that I took last week... Here's my quick plug... Spring is just around the corner and you need to get your order in soon. WTF?! is already prepared for the Spring. See below for more information:
Thank you to Fuzion, All Madden, Victors, Revolution (they brought AGame to the league first), Jacked Up, Spartans, Beltway Bombers, Danger and soon to be WTF!? for wearing AGameTeam Jerseys. For those of you that want to look as good as these squads give me a call (877.898.4082x107) or email me at williammcginnis@agameteam.com.

MDSSC - Winter Flag Football Week 6

Okay Jay... here you go. Sorry for the lack of reading material for you guys this week but I got to go see Kobe dominate the Wizzers on Tuesday and just didn't have time. So let's get right to it.

Unofficial Scores (not confirmed with Mike):
Danger (3-2) vs Black Panthers (0-5): Danger won 30-20... Danger is keeping their hopes alive with this win. Three tough games to end the season.
I said: Danger -12
All Madden (4-1) vs The Untouchables (5-0): The Untouchables remained unbeaten in a thrashing of All Madden.. They handled us on both sides of the ball. They forced turnovers and scored on every possession. I don't remember the score (40 something to 15) but I do know that we were humbled.
I didn't say:
Mayhem (3-1) vs LBH2 (2-3): Contrary to the moves that  LBH2's quarterback puts on guys (see above), they just couldn't move the ball on Mayhem and couldn't stop them. Mayhem won this one easy by 3-4 TD's. LBH2 and Showime will have an interesting battle next week (2/6).
I said: Mayhem -4
Money (3-1) vs Fuzion (3-1): Man-oh-man....Money had this game in the bag. This was one of the only games I got to watch on Saturday. Some video is coming soon but I had technical difficulties. Money jumped out quick forcing a few turnovers and going deep on some big plays to grab a 21-0 lead. They gave up a score before half and then I don't know what happened. The only thing I saw was that Money had to punt at least 3 times in the 2nd half and Fuzion didn't. Fuzion won 27-21. John don't forget #11 and that kid (#77) from the Express. They are...well Money.
I said: Fuzion -3
Jacked Up (3-1) vs Revolution (0-4): The schneid continued. Jacked up moved into typical late season form, setting themselves up to be in the playoffs and a threat to everyone. Unfortunately, it looks like the Revolution we have known for years seems to have fallen right before our eyes similar, to No Response. Jacked Up won 21-6.
I said: Jacked Up -4
Victors (3-1) vs Jumpoff (0-4): Jumpoff made this an interesting game. They jumped up 14-0 on the Victors early and looked to be in control of this game. The Victors couldn't stop them and couldn't score...That was the first half. I think the Victors scored before the half but that detail doesn't matter. Jumpoff didn't score until the last few seconds of the game. Victors won 28-20 after settling in on offense as they typically do. Great showing by Jumpoff, except for one late turnover that could have helped them seal it.
I said: Victors -16
Jacked up (3-1) vs Com'On Man (0-4): Jacked up won...

Pro and Semi-Pro scores I received:
First from a guest writer:
By Bobby Curran, Quarterback, Beltway Bombers
Beltway - 48
Movement - 20
The game started with a good defensive stand by Movement and a solid punt return. The Bombers were able to stop the Movement drive and put a few scoring drives together to go into halftime with a lead. Movement came out strong in the second half putting up 2 TD's out of the gate, but Beltway was able to respond with a big 4th down TD play. After a few more back and forth field position battles, Beltway was able to seal the deal late, winning the game 48-20.
I said: Beltway -3
Thanks Bobby!
Other scores: Hit Squad handled Go For Broke 45 to 13
Semi-Pro: Closet Flags (Greatest name in the league) edged out Crab Cakes 19-12 in the final seconds. Liquid Courage also edged out Each Hit and Die (also one of the Greatest names in the league) 35-33...we might have a Quarterback controversy.

THIS WEEKS GAMES:
I realize every week that I write way too much. I hope that some of you enjoy it. Also, I apologize to Mayhem...I have no idea where I got Pain instead of LBH2.

8:00am
Black Panthers (0-4) vs LBH2 (2-3): This game should be a good chance for LBH to get back to .500. I have heard that the Panthers have the talent but lack the organization. Keep at it men...it can't get any worse.
I say: LBH2 -10
9:15am
Pain (2-2) vs Victors (3-1): This flag football game should be interesting. The Victors messed around last week and almost lost. Pain made it to the title game last season but has been up and down this winter. With the talent and physical play of the Victors  I am leaning towards them. The key is whether Pain's QB can throw as well as he can run.
I say: Victors -6
10:30am:
All Madden (4-1) vs Rezurrection (0-3): All Madden was humbled last week, as I stated earlier. This week they will be out ready to play and get back to winning. Rezurrection will have their say...I don't have much to go on, they lost to Untouchables 18-6 and to Mayhem... The key to this game is: Who can force a turnover?
Yes this is a challenge to my team. No spread for my own games... but we better not LOSE!!!
11:45am:
Danger (3-2) vs Mayhem (3-1): I am going to stick around for this football game, even if it is 20 degrees. This is an interesting match-up. Danger is a scrappy bunch and Mayhem is methodical on offense but not so much on defense. The key to this game is whether Danger can keep up. I know Brandon is going to hate this but I am tossing it up to the vets.
I say: Mayem -2
1:00pm:
Jacked Up (3-1) vs Money (3-1): Another age old flag football match-up. Jacked Up is a physical bunch that actually may have roster issues...in a good way; they have 16 guys on their squad. Money could be 4-0 right now but lost a tough one. The key this week is whether they can keep it together and not turn on John. Win as a team lose as a team... However, you have to throw it to Howley to have a shot. As for JU...Ryan is playing good and Jacked Up's Defense looked solid last week. I say their winning continues.
I say: JU -4
2:15pm:
Showtime (3-1) vs Untouchables (5-0): After experiencing their winning ways first hand last week, I must say that the Untouchables are a surprising bunch. You can't overlook that they won the fall season and are 5-0 this time around. They are a good football squad, as is Showtime.. However, Showtime's wins are over Panthers, Com'On Man and a QB-less Danger.
I say: Untouchables -16
2:15pm:
Fuzion (3-1) vs Com'On Man (0-4): Jay, I know you want a decent write up.. see above for you awesome win over Money. However, here, I will just say: don't run the score up... Com'On Man was thrown into All-Pro in their first year and it is a tough uphill battle. They have some good guys on their squad but just aren't ready yet.
I say: Fuzion -21
3:30pm:
Revoluton (0-4) vs Jumpoff (0-4): Well there is one positive thing I can say about this flag football game... someone is going to be in the win column on Sunday! Jumpoff changed their strategy last week. Joe (Mr. Hands) took over defensive play calling and they looked decent. They also changed some things on offense. Revolution made a change at QB to free up Nick aka Wheels.  This should be interesting.
I say: pick'em
Okay the book is done and it's not even midnight yet. Adding a few pictures in a minute. I will try to take some more this weekend.

MDSSC - Winter Flag Football - Week 5

The season continues this week with more great match-ups as usual. I covered the results of last week on Tuesday. You can read that update here

Let's just go right down the line:

8:00am
Danger (2-2) vs Black Panthers (0-4): Danger should get back in the win column this week. Unfortunately, there are two teams that just don't have it together yet, and one of them is the Black Panthers. Give them a few more seasons and they will get it together. They have some decent athletes but just aren't organized. Danger, on the other hand, played a great game without their QB last week but in the end suffered a loss. They are a spry bunch. If they can string some wins together they could be a Jets type team to worry about in the playoffs. It will be tough though...after the Panthers they have Mayhem, All Madden and the Untouchables. This week however:
I say: Danger -12

9:15am
I don't know... Revolution has already played Pain. I found out that Revolution plays Jacked Up at 2:15. See below.

10:30am
All Madden (4-0) vs The Untouchables (4-0): I guess this could be considered one of the flag football games of the week. You have the final two undefeated teams in the Pac-8 going head-to-head for the top spot in the division. Let's just look at facts: The Untouchables have scored 128 points, All Madden: 131. The Untouchables have given up 13...All Madden: 63. Based on raw numbers, the Untouchables have given up only 3.25 points a game. That's not even POSSIBLE! The only common opponent we have is LBH2. Untouchables won 20-0. All Madden won 32-27. I am pretty jacked to play this game on Saturday and I think it will be a great one. I will leave it up to the audience to wonder what the score will be. Only one team will be undefeated on Sunday.
I say: Just watch (Sorry team, put comments if you want.)

11:45am
Mayhem (2-1) vs Pain (2-2): Mayhem got over .500 last week and Pain dropped to .500. This should be a decent game. Pain has a QB that seems to like to run more than throw, but you can't discount his arm completely. Mayhem, well they are Mayhem. They have a potent offense with Scott at the helm. Their defense isn't the same without their sniper, Tim, back at safety. This could lead to a pretty high scoring affair with the last team to have possession winning it.
I say: Mayhem -4

1:00pm
Money (3-0) vs Fuzion (2-1): This will be the beginning of the tough part of Money's schedule. They had some nice warm-up flag football games to get their feet under them. Fuzion, on the other hand, opened with a loss and have won two convincing games in a row. This game will come down to turnovers. Fuzion has a high flying offense and an up-and-down defense. I haven't seen Money play yet this season so this is a tough one for me...
I say: Fuzion -3

2:15pm
Rezurrection (0-3) vs Showtime (3-1): This is an interesting match-up. Rezurrection is winless (contrary to the website. I don't know how they got a win when they played Mayhem and lost.) Showtime's three wins are over Com'On Man, Black Panthers and a QB-less Danger. Showtime has been around the block and know how to win flag football games. If anything, Rezurrection has a decent defense and if they rattle the QB #22, they may have a chance.
I say: Showtime -1.5

Also at 2:15
Revolution (0-3) vs Jacked Up (1-1): Man-oh-man...I don't know what to say about this one. I want to say this will be a traditional match-up between these two but I don't know what Revolution team will show up. Jacked Up had a nice win last week after getting beat by 19 against Fuzion. This is the first of two football games for them on Saturday. Until Revolution proves otherwise I imagine the schneid will continue.
I say: Jacked Up -4

3:30pm
Victors (2-1) vs Jumpoff (0-3): Jumpoff will continue their losing streak this week. The Victors should have some of their main guys back from Miami and will give them a full squad. The Jumpoff, however, haven't shown any of the spark that they had a couple of seasons ago.
I say: Victors -16

Also at 3:30
Com'On Man (0-4) vs Jacked Up (1-1): Com'On Man has had their struggles in their first season in the league. Those struggles won't stop with the physical Jacked Up team next on the schedule.

I say: Jacked Up -16

I want to use a little more space for the Pro league. So I will run through a few games. There are only two undefeated teams left, the Beltway Bombers and TTB. The SEC seems like a pretty even division, as does the WAC. One thing I have to point out though...Beltway has scored 132 points (most in Pro) and given up only 28 (least in Pro). Will we see Beltway in All-Pro in the spring? After that catch and run video last week...maybe. I also think the Hit Squad has the talent to move back up to All Pro in the spring.

Let's look at some games.

Beltway (3-0) vs Movement (2-1-1): Movement is such a tricky read. They have the talent and athleticism to be in All Pro but just have never stayed consistently organized. Beltway on the other hand is everything organized. They have their plays memorized and they flock to the ball defensively. Going on that statement...
I say: Beltway -3

TTB (3-0) vs Rusty (2-1): I have to go strictly on paper here. TTB has scored/given up 94/43 - Rusty 116/80.. I don't know if Rusty's record is accurate on the site as they are missing a game on the scores. I think they could be 2-2...
I say: TTB -3 because of their win over Hit Squad.

Finally, I have one more thing. If you want, email your scores to flagfootballmd@yahoo.com Give me your team name, the team you played and the scores. If you want to provide a write up, great! This goes for all Divisions including All Pro. I will try to get as much information on here. Good luck everyone and see you out there on the fields.

Maryland Flag Football - WEEK 4 Updates

I want to get this out of the way to shorten up my Thursday post (not that you guys read the whole damn thing). Every time I finish I feel like it is a freaking book. Hope you guys enjoy it. A few things...I added a video from this last weekend. I am going to try and get some more. Let me know your thoughts. Also, the spring season isn't as far away as you think. Now is the time to start thinking about jerseys for your squad. Get with me now and we can start throwing some mocks together. I created this other blog where I will begin putting designs. You can call me at 877.898.4082x119 or email me at flagfootballmd@yahoo.com. Now, onto the flag football updates from Week 4...

8:00am:
Danger (2-1) vs Showtime (2-1): This was a close game during the first half. Danger's defense was able to get a few takeaways to keep it close. Unfortunately, without their QB at the helm, they just couldn't keep it going. In fairness to Brandon, he did the best he could, but Showtime came out on top. I just don't know the score.
I said: Danger -4

9:15am:
All Madden (3-0) vs LBH2 (2-1): This was a great game of flag football.  It came down to the end after LBH2 scored to make it a five-point game; there just wasn't enough time. The key to this game was 2 turnovers in the 2nd half by LBH2. After giving up consecutive scores in the first, we were able to lock it down, and scored on short fields to go up by 13 before that final score by LBH2. Great game guys!
I said: nothing.

10:30am:
Victors (1-1) vs Com'On Man (0-3): Com'On Man had seven guys show up to play the formidable Victors. On the Victors first play of their first possession, they tossed it to #9 on a fly route to score easily. Besides the two picks that the Victors QB threw (all in fun), the Victors won this one easily.
I said: Victors -18

11:45am:
Fuzion (1-1) vs Jumpoff (0-2): Fuzion covered easily in this 42-6 win. What is going on Jumpoff??
I said: Fuzion -6.5

Untouchables (3-0) vs Black Panthers (0-3): I don't know the score to this one but I heard that the Panthers threw at least 3 pick-6's.. I am sure the Untouchables covered.
**I just want to clarify something. Last week, I said that the Panthers have a lot of 702 guys on there. I was wrong in assuming and stating that. Some guys from 702 helped this team get in the league but that's it.**
Panthers keep your head's up. The All-Pro division has teams that have played together for years. It takes time.
I said: Untouchables -13.5

1:00pm:
Money (3-0)  vs Revolution (0-3): This game didn't happen. It has been rescheduled.

2:15pm:
Mayhem (1-1) vs Rezurrection (0-2): I didn't get to see this game, but it was a one-possession game in the end, with Mayhem winning by 8.
I said: Mayhem -2

3:30pm:
Jacked Up (0-1) vs Pain (2-1): The final score of this game was 27-12. Jacked Up got into the win column with a nice defensive effort and Pain was humbly knocked back to .500. The playoffs are going to be interesting this winter.
I said: Even

There it is folks, your Tuesday update from last weekend. I will try to do this by Tuesday every week, and as always, have the main post on Thursday night sometime.

Final thoughts:
Looking at the Standings, there could easily be a normal playoff contender watching from the sidelines this season. With only four teams from each division making it to the flag football dance, every game matters. Just something to think about.

ACC:

Money: 3-0
Pain: 2-2
Victors: 2-1
Fuzion: 2-1
Jacked Up: 1-1

PAC-8:
Untouchables: 4-0
All Madden: 4-0
Showtime: 3-1
LBH2: 2-2
Danger: 2-2
Mayhem: 2-1

MDSSC - Flag Football - VIDEO!

This is my first attempt at Video. I couldn't stay at the fields long today but I was able to catch this good play from the Beltway Bombers game. They were rollin today.

Friday, January 15, 2010

Okay Okay... I'm Back. Let's Talk Flag Football!

First off, I apologize for being absent over the last month. I hope everyone had a good holiday season and a good start to the New Year. The season started off rocky with postponements and cancellations but we are rolling now.

So, since I have been out of it for a while...here's how the All-Pro season looks right now:

There are three undefeated teams left: All Madden, Money and the Untouchables. They are all at 3-0. Pain, Danger, Showtime and LBH2 are all 2-1.. Overall things are pretty even across the board in both the ACC and the Pac-8. So Let's just recap the last week or two.

Two flag football games were pretty intriguing in week 2 on 1/2. One was the The Untouchables vs LBH2 and the other was the surprising Danger vs Rezurrection flag football game. The Untouchables won their flag football game 20-0.. The crazy thing about this game is that the Untouchables QB threw 5 picks and they still shut out LBH2. I didn't get to see the game but I have to imagine that the blistering cold/wind had a lot to do with this game. The other was the up and coming Danger squad and their second test in All-Pro. They made the jump from semi-pro to All-pro. They said screw Pro we are playing big time. Well they are 2-1 with a nice comeback win against Rezurrection and a handling of Pain in week 1.

Last week, there were a few good flag football games and a few surprising ones. I will just run down the line.

Jacked Up (0-1) vs Fuzion (1-1): Fuzion won by a score of 33-14. This was Jacked Up's first game of the season and Fuzion's second. Seems like there may be a little rust to knock off for Jacked Up but after years past a loss really means nothing to them right now. Fuzion was able to get a win in after losing to Mayhem in week 1.

Victors (1-1) vs Revolution (0-3): The Victors got in the win column in dominating fashion (45-6). I don't know what is going on with Nick and the Revolution but for the sake of competition I hope they straighten it out...the league needs Revolution this flag football season!!

Com'On Man (0-3) vs Pain (2-1): Com'On Man is new to the league and they look young. They scored for the first time this season but lost to Pain 40-6. Keep your heads up guys.. Be pissed at Mike for putting you in All-Pro where almost every team has played together in this league for at least 3-4 seasons, if not years.

Money (3-0) vs Jumpoff (0-2): Money finished the easy part of their schedule winning 20-8. Now we will find out if John still has it in him to keep this run going. I haven't seen Jumpoff play yet this season But they faced Untouchables and Money... It doesn't get any easier this week.

Black Panthers (0-3) vs Showtime (2-1): This was a lopsided flag football victory for Showtime. They won 42-12. The Panthers are another new team to the league. I heard a lot of their guys were from 702. Unfortunately, they haven't found their rhythm yet. Hopefully things will get better in their first season.

All Madden (3-0) vs Mayhem (1-1): I am on All Madden now so I will just state the facts instead of opinion. We got up quick after two turnovers by Mayhem.. They scored once in the first half and once in the second. Final score 40-12. Mayhem has won 5 championships so I don't see this derailing them but this was a hell of a win for us!

LBH2 (2-1) vs Danger (2-1): Danger was finally humbled. They ran into LBH2 and just couldn't score enough. The final score was 33-21. Danger might be a team to keep your eye on this flag football season.

Untouchables (3-0) vs Rezurrection (0-2): Untouchables won 18-6. Didn't see this game but the Untouchables are the reigning champs from the Fall and they haven't lost since 11/4/09 when they lost to All Madden.

This week's QUICK HITS:
But first... Thank you to Fuzion, All Madden, Victors, Revolution (they brought AGame to the league first), Jacked Up, Spartans, Beltway Bombers, Danger and soon to be WTF!? for wearing AGameTeam Jerseys. For those of you that want to look as good as these squads (especially since I heard t-shirts weren't available this year) give me a call (877.898.4082x107) or email me williammcginnis@agameteam.com for more information. Okay enough with the shameless plugging...

8:00am - Danger (2-1) vs Showtime (2-1): This should be a good match up. Showtime has one bad loss and their two wins are over two win-less teams. Danger beat Pain and Rezurrection before losing to LBH2. I say:
Danger (-4)

9:15am - LBH2 (2-1) vs All Madden (3-0): This should be a good test for us. LBH2 has a speedy QB that likes to throw on the run. I don't like to put spreads on my own games.... I will just say this should be a good game..(Sorry to the guys on my team that want to see a pick.)

10:30am - Victors (1-1) vs Com'On Man (0-3): Victors -18. Sorry Com'On Man... you have a tough road ahead.

11:45am - Jumpoff (0-2) vs Fuzion (1-1): After last weeks win over Jacked Up, Fuzion is starting to feel as confident as they look. Jumpoff has some things to work on.
I say: Fuzion (-6.5)

11:45am - Untouchables (3-0) vs Black Panthers (0-2): This isn't a good match up for a new team. Untouchables are rolling right now. I don't think it stops here.
I say: Untouchables (-13.5)

1:00pm - Money (3-0) vs Revolution (0-3): Will the real Revolution please stand up? Come to think of it I think Nick is in Florida for the World Championships with the Bengals... If there is a game...
I say: Money (-8)

2:15pm - Rezurrection (0-2) vs Mayhem (1-1): Jeremy is in Indy hoping the Colts win so he doesn't have to wax his legs and chest. Dave is also in Indy hoping the Ravens win so that his teammate will have to wax his legs and chest and so that the Ravens go to the next round. Hopefully Scott has someone to throw to.
I say: Mayhem (-2)

3:30pm - Pain (2-1) vs Jacked Up (0-1): This should be a good match up. Both QB's are elusive runners. Jacked Up's QB has a cannon for an arm too. This will come down to who can convert.
I say: Even

Well that is it.. I know it is a lot to digest. Unfortunately, that is why I can't even imagine covering Pro or Semi-Pro. Looking at the standings.. I like Beltway Bombers and TTB from Pro but there is some talent on Hit Squad and the Movement. This is the Spartans first year playing together and if they get organized they could be dangerous. In Semi-Pro, I like Hit Men, Liquid Courage (shout out to Craig and John) and the Warriors... If anyone wants to give me some insight to the other divisions please shoot me an email or leave a comment.

See you out there on the field.
