Jacked Up Wins it!! Another Maryland Flag Football Season is in the Books...

What a great weekend of football. The morning started out with Mayhem vs No Response and the Victors vs Jacked Up. Well our team didn't do too much to stop Mayhem. They beat us pretty easily; dinking and dunking down the field. The Victors had a tough time handling Jacked Up and eventually lost in the last few seconds of the game.

It looks like I even inspired Mike to finally provide a recap on the website. Fuzion was able to out score Mayhem this time in the semi's to make it to the 'ship. Jacked Up faced an incomplete Untouchables team who was missing their QB. I don't buy this whole 2nd and 3rd QB bullshit. We have all been in the league too long and know that only the Victors carry two QB's. Anyway, here we area refreshed Jacked Up team and a Fuzion team that manages to put up tons of points. In the end it was Jacked Up 35 - Fuzion 32. It was a Jacked Up season yet again. Excuse the pun.

I would write more, but Mike did a good job. Click the link above. It is going to be hard for me to write about the fall season. No Response will be in the league again but I am going to take a Favre-like season and flip-flop back and forth on whether I am playing. I am playing in another league on Sundays and I will likely be more involved with that. With that being said, I will gladly take contributors for the fall season. Please email me or comment if you would like to sub in as an author for a week or two.

MDSSC Fall Flag Football starts on 9/12/09 and from what it sounds like it should be another great season. If your team needs some new uniforms or you are starting to plan for the winter. Let me know if you would like to get pricing or see some samples. You can also check out:
All-Madden (yeah the Favre lover is back to sling TD's to #42.. Watch out for All-Madden this season)
Revolution (Don't count Nick and his bro out... lets hope they can count on their team to show up for the fall games.)
Victors (Typically always the regular season champs but this season actually showed up on time in the playoffs and threw their whole approach off...Guys, if the game starts at 8:30am you have until 5 or 10 minutes after that before a forfeit. Don't change your routine.)
And the Runner-up's Fuzion also wears the quality AGame uniforms.

RFFA is supposed to start soon but the site hasn't been updated. I am going to copy the commish on this to see if he can post any news on this issue.

I feel like I am ending this season's blog abruptly without a good ending. For that I apologize. Posting pictures now. Good luck to all of the squads this Fall... don't forget to contact me if you would like to contribute.

MDSSC Flag Football Playoffs in Maryland... Round 1 Week 2

Guys, I am sorry for the delay.. I have been swamped all week. So a here is a brief recap of last week.

Fuzion walloped LBH2 41-14 and move on to the next round. The Untouchables were able to put a stop to Rezurrection's run and take them out 25-19. That must have been a hell of a game. Unfortunately I didn't make it to either last week so I can't write much more than this.

On to this week. Round 1 finishes up with us (No Response) taking on Mayhem in a rematch of a great game earlier in the season. The Victors will take on Jacked Up in a battle that has happened a lot in MDSSC playoffs history.

First, Mayhem beat No Response earlier in the season 36-30 in OT. The great thing...for them; they only had 6 guys to do it. As you can see Mayhem is the favorite but I think that this will be a great game. No Response has made strides towards the end of this season with a big win over the Untouchables and have the team to make it interesting. On the other hand, it is Scott and his crew of misfits that happen to always turn it up a notch in the playoffs.
Mayhem -8

The other first round game is the Victors vs Jacked Up. They also played earlier this season with the Victors coming out on top 35-21. Right now the Victors are playing next level ball. While they almost gave one away in the last week of the season to Jumpoff they seem to be unstoppable. Jacked Up has had an inconsistent season, which unfortunately, I attribute to a bunch of games lumped together (I am assuming at their request). They were able to play their way into the playoffs by slipping past Money 19-18. Unfortunately, I think this is where they stop.
Victors -12

Round 2:
This is hard to write, but due to the fact that all of the games are on Saturday, I might as well throw some predictions out there.

My Personal goal... Beat Mayhem and play Fuzion well enough to beat them.

Fuzion is an enigma to me. They had a big loss to the Victors and Rezurrection and were out scored by Mayhem in a shoot out. They beat LBH2 twice, by big margins, and easily took care of the Untouchables.

If I go on spreads alone here is what I think might happen:
Mayhem beats NR.. Victors beat Jacked Up.

Round 2: Mayhem beats Fuzion and Victors payback the Untouchables

Championship: Honestly, my thoughts are that the Victors are the team to beat this season. They have a great squad and even when Johnny is getting on the ENTIRE teams nerves they still play good as long as they don't turn the ball over and play decent defense. I think Mayhem will score on them easier than most teams. Scott makes quick decisions and is able to read defenses like kids books. The Victors play on talent. I would imagine that the Victors could hold them off and win with a score of 38-36 or something like that.

With respect to all the teams, including my teammates. I am excited about this weekend and look forward to playing. All in all, I hope that no one is injured, Skip and Vito can put up with all the arguing and that we have a great, hopefully dry, day. Good luck everyone and see you on the fields.

**Things to remember:

MDSSC Summer Flag Football Playoffs

Gentlemen, the table is set. The Bracket complete. This weekend is the start of the All-Pro Division playoffs. There were a few great games on Saturday to end the season. Mayhem slipped by Fuzion 48-40 for the #1 spot in the North. Jacked Up was able to get by All-Money 19-18 for the 4th spot in the North. (A little more on this in a minute) Lastly, the Victors almost allowed Jumpoff to end their season with a win, but got it together to win 20-18.

Okay, so in my last post I listed the tiebreakers which showed, based on this last weekend's results, All-Money making it in if it ended up being a three way tie. It appears though that the commish resulted in using strength of schedule as the determining factor instead of Bar Tab. I am sure this was a tough call for the commish as he is on All-Money and I am sure, if anyone goes to the bar consistantly, it would be members of their team. Let me just say this guys, we need to show support for Hightopps. I know that I need to chip in too. They have good food and the atmosphere is pretty cool. Considering our game times though I know it is tough. I propose that Mike get with Hightopps and maybe get us discount cards of some sort to use during the week or something. Let's be honest, Hightopps doesn't open until lunch time, and if you are playing in any game but the noon game, you are more likely to stop at Bob Evans than Hightopps. What say you commish? Just a thought.

Okay, FOOTBALL now. This weekend LBH2 squares off against Fuzion at 11am for a classic re-match. These two who got their starts in the Pro Division and have worked their way into being powers in the All-Pro with LBH2 winning it all in the winter. A lopsided victory by Fuzion (48-24) this season will add to the fire. Unfortunately, LBH2's Quarterback won't be here this weekend so they will have to rely on their back up (Duke) who has a decent arm but based on the loss earlier this season it is hard to tell who will win this one.
Spread: Fuzion -8

The other game this weekend is Untouchables vs Rezurrection at 12:15. If you would have asked me at the beginning of this season who would win this match-up; I would have said Untouchables hands down. Now, I look at these teams and Rezurrection has won 5 straight with only one of those games being a walk against the Best Team. The Untouchables on the other hand have gone 3-2 in their last 5 with 2 of those wins against the Best team and Jumpoff. I will leave it to you but here is the Spread: Rezurrection -6.

Keeping it short this week as I am already late enough with this post. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Fall Season for MDSSC starts soon.
2. A new League its
Reisterstown for those of you guys that want a little more contact. Not sure if it will be on Saturdays or Sundays but I will keep you posted. Either way, you can play in two. I do. Email me if you need help finding a team I can help you get in touch with some of the coaches.
3.

4. I know you guys want to look as good as Revolution, All-Madden, Fuzion, and the Victors... You need jerseys or Uniforms, I can help you out. Email or call me. Check out the

New Contact 8-Man Flag Football League in Maryland!

For my current readers, please see below or click here for this weeks write up. I apologize for the multiple posts but I want to introduce this new league.

The league will be the Reisterstown Flag Football Association. I don't know what field yet but I am thinking Northwest Regional. Don't hold me to that. Here is the email from the Commish:

"I have some updates for you. The league Website has been created and we will start to update it immediately and over the next few weeks.
http://www.leaguelineup.com/rffa

There will be teams from Howard county league coming over and possibly some teams from PA and elsewhere.
We will be playing on Brand new field turf so make sure we always keep the facility clean.

On that note, all teams must have matching JERSEYS with a NUMBER on at least the back. If you need inexpensive ideas on attaining jerseys just ask….many of us have connections. (Inserting my plug here... Contact me: Will McGinnis, I am associated with AGameTeam Apparel. Great Uniforms and good prices. mcginnis32@yahoo.com or 877-898-4082x107)

The League will be sponsored by Bill Batemens, Charltey Plaza Location which will help keep the cost down for all teams.
Please patronize the establishment and let them know you are with the league. They will have Food & Drink specials for RFFA Affiliates.

Some of the rules and formats will be changing because we will be using MCFFU rules & Regulations. www.mcffu.com
Everything is up for discussion but you must attend the League meeting or you will have no say.
Team captains will vote too."

So... what does this mean? Your wives/girlfriends will be pissed that you are going to be gone even more on the weekends. Good news is that this is contact so you can take it out (cleanly) on the other team. I will be posting on this league as well as MDFFA which starts on September 20th in Essex. I play for the Baltimore Victors and we were able to make it into the top tier playoffs in our first season and were a play (tough call) away from being in the Semi's. I am excited for the season to kick off that has 5 new teams joining including the Maryland Giants who should have a good squad.

So things to remember:
Check out the RFFA

MDSSC is Maryland's Premiere Summer Flag Football League

Sorry for the delay in getting this out this week. But it's still Wednesday so give me a break.

RECAP:
Some good games were played last week. Early in the day, Mayhem was stunned by Jacked Up early on but still had a chance to win it. I looked over from my game to see a heart breaking TD drop from a Mayhem receiver's hands right into a Jacked Up defenders. That was all she wrote. (Jacked Up 38 - Mayhem 26)

The other early game was ours (NR vs Untouchables) and it was a good one. A defensive battle ensued from the beginning. One of the key players of the game was NR's rusher who had at least 6 sacks and two bomb TD's helping No Response capitalize on a flustered, unfortunately shirtless, quarterback for a 20-6 victory. On a side note, these guys ruined my pictures.

After our game, the Victors squared off with LBH2. The Victors got a 1 minute warning before a forced forfeit. In typical fashion, their team showed up one by one to get the game started. One of their key defenders (Lichaa), even hopped in a 3rd down defensive play on a full sprint from his car. Even better, he picked off the pass and took it to the house for 6. Unfortunately, he didn't have a chance to take his flags from his shoulders and put them on, negating the TD. LBH2 jumped on them quickly after that, scoring and forcing a TO to go up 14-0. I had to leave at that point but the Victors settled down to win 32-20.

In the other games, it looks like the rest of Jump Off decided to show up for once and they beat the Best Team 48-26. Jacked Up could not carry their momentum into their contest with Fuzion and lost 31-18. Mayhem also had a second contest with a struggling Revolution team that can't seem to get a consistent team there on Saturdays...needless to say, Scott was able to help Mayhem hold off Revolution 22-18. And rounding out the weekend All-Money lost to Rezurrection 28-18 and Revolution was able to beat Jacked Up on Sunday 26-15.

Now for the fun football stuff. We are in the final week of the regular season for the Summer Flag Football League.

The South Division is locked up:
Victors (6-1), LBH2 (5-2), Untouchables (4-3), No Response (3-4), Jumpoff (1-6) & Best Team (0-7)

Unless the Victors forfeit (forced to forfeit because they are always late), or screw around against Jumpoff they will be #1. The other 3 spots will depend on the outcome of this weekend. LBH2 (5-2) faces No Response (3-4) and the Untouchables (4-3) should handle The Best Team (0-7).

The North is a little different:
Fuzion (5-2), Rezurrection (5-2), Mayhem (5-2), All-Money (3-4), Revolution (3-4) & Jacked Up (2-5)

Revolution plays Rezurrection at 11. At 12:15 Jacked Up plays All-Money and Mayhem faces Fuzion in a battle for first place. These three games are set to be pretty good games and will also determine seeding and who makes it in the playoffs.

Lets start with the 3 teams on bottom. JU beat Mayhem last week but lost to Revolution. Money beat Revolution. Money and JU play this weekend. If Money wins they're in. Because of their win over Revolution they hold the tie breaker. Here's where it gets tricky though. If Revolution loses and JU beats Money they will all be 3-5 with wins over each other. Per the rules on the site:
For standings' purposes, tie-breakers will be determined in the following order:
1. # of pts from win loss tie record.. **Won't matter
2. Teams' head to head outcomes during the regular season **Won't matter
3. Aggregate team bar tab **Tricky, who knows about this, JU played most of their games in 2-3 wks, who knows if they went to the bar, Mike has been out the last two-three weeks so who knows if Money goes to the bar and same goes for Revolution who barely fields a team each week.
4. Strength of schedule **Kind of a Judgement call, JU has a win over Mayhem?
5. Least # of points given up. **Going into this week Money has given up the least at 159.
6. Total number of points scored from seasons’ games
7 A coin toss will determine the tie-breaker.

This will all be irrelevant if Revolution wins and Money loses..

Maryland Flag Football Summer League Spreads:
8:30: LBH2 (5-2) vs No Response (3-4): LBH2 -6
9:45: Victors (6-1) vs Jumpoff (1-6): Victors -28
9:45: Best Team (0-7) vs Untouchables (4-3): Untouchables -28
11:00: Revolution (3-4) vs Rezurrection (5-2): Rezurrection -6
12:15: Jacked Up (2-5) vs All-Money (3-4): Honestly don't know here... (even)
12:15: Mayhem (5-2) vs Fuzion (5-2): I have to watch this game! Mayhem -2 (Playing for first place)

Final thoughts going into this week. Victors are scoring at will, LBH2 has lost two in a row and throwing a personal wish out that I want to capitalize on it. Rezurrection has won four games in a row including a win over Fuzion. Mayhem is Mayhem and regardless of what happens they are in the playoffs so anything can happen. Money needs Pat back. Revolution will be fine in the fall or winter. Jacked Up might consider sitting out next summer if they have to play 2-3 games on multiple weekends, I think it has affected them. Jumpoff will be okay if they get some consistency and quit over-complicating everything.. same goes for No Response. And the Best Team.. change your name and keep your heads up. Great talent just haven't played together and needs to pick a QB to stick with.

Good Luck this weekend everyone. I am going to post some pictures separately and announce a new league.
