MDSSC - WINTER FLAG FOOTBALL - BLIZZARD 2010

Okay fellas,

I don't think games will be played this weekend. With 48 inches of snow dropping on us in 5 days, I don't think we will be able to park or play on the fields. Mike hasn't updated the site as of today (Thursday at 5pm) so I don't know if he has any helpers to shovel the field...at least the lines. I think it would be a blast to play in this stuff though!

I am headed to SunLife (sunny) Orlando in the morning, so I wouldn't be there to enjoy the games, anyway. Since I don't know if there will be any football games I am going to hold off on the write-ups. With the forfeits and reschedules that happened two weeks ago, when we were getting snow, it just makes sense to wait and see. If you guys do end up playing, I apologize, and will make sure there is a write up next week.

Be safe and see you out there soon.

MDSSC - Winter Flag Football - Week 7 **POSTPONED**

Fellow Flag Footballers,

Sorry about the lack of an update this week. In anticipation of no games this weekend, I procrastinated a bit...Update from Mike: (Games for Saturday February 6th will be rescheduled to February 20th. The make up slate of games that was schedule for 2/20 will be played on 2/21. Playoffs start on 2/27 and will finish on 2/28. There will be an email out to the coaches to cover this in detail later tonight.)

Here are a few unedited write-ups:
Reported by:  Bobby Curran, Quarterback, Beltway Bombers
Final Score:
Beltway - 38
Ryan Pine - 12
Write Up:
"This game was a battle from the start. The first half was one of mistakes by Beltway, throwing two interceptions, while Ryan Pine was able to capitolize on those mistakes, punching in 2 TD's. Beltway was able to answer each of RP's TD's with scores of their own and the halftime score was 16-12 Beltway. Going into the second half, Beltway was able to pull it together with a big scoring drive right out of the break. Beltway's defense stepped up in the second half with a big performance by those in black & red. The offense of Beltway put together two more scoring drives to close out the game 38-12. This game was much closer than the final score and Ryan Pine is a very talented team that, with more time playing together in the league, will be a dangerous team on anyone's schedule."
My thoughts... it's time to step up in the playoffs Beltway. You and TTB is 5-0 with Hitsquad on their heels. The playoffs for Pro should be pretty evenly matched but with the most points scored and the least given up it is Beltway's to lose. Shawn and DJ may have something to say about that though....

Reported by: Kosty Safir, Center, Money
Final Score:
Money - 18
Jacked Up - 13
"It was one of the best games I have been apart of!
The game started with 5 guys on my Money team and 8 guys on Jacked up, the snow prevented a couple of guys making it to the game for both teams. The first half was a battle and Jacked up went up 7 with a bomb from Ryan to Steve Sutter, We drove right back down the field with a lot of check downs to me, not trying to gloat but I had 5 receptions on the drive which finished by a 10yard TD to Mike Mo the commish. Jacked Up drove down the field again and scored and the half time score was 13-6. Considering going up hill and finishing the half with 6 guys (another guy showed up towards the end of the half we minimized the damage. Howley #11 your boy showed up at half time and 7 guys is what we had for the rest of the game. We started with the ball  but had to punt after moving the ball a little. Jacked up also could not get a 2nd first down and punted the ball back to us. with the ball and only down 7 points we had another blow up, just what you said not to do in your blog happened. on a key down John started screaming in the huddle and burned a key timeout for no reason. I thought it was over for us at that point in the game. We punted again with about 9 min left. Jacked Up drove all the way down the field to a redzone opportunity and Ryan threw a game changing INT to #77 Waranch. We then drove down the field and scored but missed the conversion so we were still down 12-13. Jacked up drove up the field quickly and were at our goal line with 3 min left in the game. Considering their was always an open zone being down a player, Ryan just couldn't get the ball in the end zone and on 3rd and 4th and goal the ball was deflected both downs and JU turned the ball over with just over 2 min left in the game. QB John must of read your blog because he heavily relied on #77 Waranch on the game winning drive, he had 5 receptions with the final one being a 15 yard TD catch that gave us a 18-13 lead with 40 seconds left. Still Jacked Up drove up the field and gave them self's a chance with a hail-mary but it just wasn't their day and a man down team MONEY prevailed and won a huge game. I know I wrote every detail so I will shorten it next time. Like I said this was the best game I have ever been apart of considering our player situation so I just had to explain the drama of what happened on Saturday."
My thoughts...All I can say, is that this sounded like a great game. And considering what I was driving home in, after I left Hightopps, this game would have been played in some crazy weather. Jacked up had a minor setback but have the tiebreaker over Pain. A good team is going to be left out of the playoffs in the SEC and it could get interesting.

Other games... All-Madden couldn't shake their loss against Untouchables and had a similar performance against the win-less Rezurrection.(Mike has them at 2-2 but they only have 1 win..against us) Rezurrection had some great defensive stands to stay in the lead. Two times we were knocking on the door and they forced a turnover. Although they don't look like they will be able to make the playoffs, they are a good squad and have some good athletes (#13 was injured early and had a game saving pick-6)....Mayhem shut out Danger 22-0.. This was a shocking score for me to hear. I left after two drives but here is what I saw... Mayhem didn't get past the 50 on their first possession and then the QB-less (he was running to the field as I was leaving.) Danger had four chances to score but couldn't punch it in. I guess after I left there was three touchdowns. Unfortunately, for Danger, none of them were for them.

As for other news.. Black Panthers forfeited their first game at 8am to LBH2. Unfortunately, I think we knew this was coming. Com'On Man also forfeited their game to Fuzion...only after Jay spent over an hour getting to the fields. Pro News: TTB crushed the Spartans 38-0 to remain unbeaten and Hit Squad narrowly edged the Habitual Line Steppers 25-24. Lastly, in Semi-Pro, Closet Flags beat House of Pain 20-14.

ALL PRO STANDINGS:

ACC
Fuzion (4-1)
Money (4-1)
Victors (3-2)
Pain (3-2)
Jacked Up (3-2)
*Interesting note...Between the Victors, Pain and Jacked Up, only two make it to the playoffs.

Pac-8
Untouchables (5-0) Their game with Showtime didn't happen.
Mayhem (4-1)
All Madden (4-2)
Showtime (3-1)
Danger (3-2)
LBH2 (3-3)
*Another interesting note...out of Danger, LBH2 and Showtime only one makes it to the playoffs.

If you have read this far, have a good and safe weekend. I hope you went to the grocery store before today. See you guys on the fields.
